Douglas & Main Street Improvements
Ferndale completed roadway and intersection improvements on Main Street and Douglas Road in 2008. Work included the installation of a traffic signal and improved alignment at the intersection of Douglas and Main, with channelized turn lanes, pedestrian-activated crosswalk controls, curb, gutter and sidewalk. The City funded this project through a combination of sources including $1,046,649 in federal grant funding administered through the Washington State Department of Transportation, $92,300 of Safe Routes to School grant funding received by the Ferndale School District for their Feet First Ferndale Program and more than $178,000 in City funding.
