Ferndale Cuts Ribbon on Expanded Wastewater Treatment Facility

Elected officials, city staff and contractors gathered Thursday afternoon to cut the ribbon at Ferndale’s newly expanded Wastewater Treatment Facility. The new facilities include additional capacity to receive and process wastewater that should accommodate the city’s growing population and a new laboratory and testing facility to ensure all relevant water quality standards are met.

Guests toured the new headworks, grit and aeration basins, clarifiers and UV disinfection facilities that make up the Wastewater Treatment process.

“This is the largest capital project the City of Ferndale has undertaken and I am proud to see it up and running,” said Mayor Greg Hansen.

The project was designed by Wilson Engineering, constructed by McClure and Sons, and overseen by City staff. For more details on Ferndale’s utilities, see www.cityofferndale.org/water. Additional photos of the event available on the City’s facebook page here.
