City of Frightdale 2024 Halloween Decorating Contest
The City of Frightdale Halloween Decorating Contest returns! The week of Halloween, enjoy terrifying sights across the city and vote on who has the spookiest place! This year, there are TWO ways you can participate.
Sign Up and Decorate:
Click here to send an email to the City’s Communications and Community Relations Officer by Thursday, Oct. 24th with your name and address to be added to our list of participating City of Frightdale homes (participating homes must be inside Ferndale City limits). Put out your scariest decorations, or even be a part of those decorations if you like! Please note, this is an inclusive, family-friendly event; let’s keep this fun! All decorations and displays must be visible from the public right of way.
On Friday, October 25th, you will receive a Frightdale yard sign with a number on it. Make sure to place this sign in a visible location for voting. Voting will be open beginning on Friday, October 25th at 5:00 p.m. and will close on November 1st at 8:00 a.m.
The high scoring houses receive gift cards donated by Anytime Toffee.
Participate and Vote:
Participants can travel around the city visiting all the spooky locations (the list of participating homes will go live on this page on Friday, October 25th at 5:00 p.m.). Find the spooky homes and score them as you visit using the survey link provided on this page (survey will go live at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25th). Please do not trespass onto private property; all participating displays will be fully visible from the public right of way.
If you score more than five houses, you will be entered into a drawing to win a gift card donated by Anytime Toffee.

Congratulations to our winners of the 2024 City of Frightdale Halloween Decorating Contest! The spookiest houses, according to the 723 received votes, were:
1st Place – House #2 – 5366 Myers Drive
2nd – House #9 – 6168 Lincoln Drive
3rd Place – House #3 – 1402 Myers Drive
We also did a drawing of all the people who voted. Congrats to Jiale for being the winning voter for the City of Frightdale!
