2021 Stormwater Management Program Update

The City of Ferndale updates the Stormwater Management Program as a response to specific special conditions within the “Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit” that authorizes the City of Ferndale to discharge stormwater to the waters of the State of Washington.

Per the Permit, this program summary will be updated each year and will be available to the public. Participation and comments are welcome and may be directed to City of Ferndale Stormwater staff  stormwater@cityofferndale.org. The comment period for the 2021 Program update began February 8, 2021 and ended March 8, 2021.

Professional Services

The City of Ferndale (pursuant to RCW 39.80) is soliciting statements of qualifications and performance data from engineering and/or architectural firms for providing general engineering and survey services for municipal applications including but not limited to sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage, water distribution systems, streets, geotechnical investigations and studies, and traffic engineering for the remainder of the 2021 calendar year.  These qualifications and performance data will be placed on file and will be used as a source from which to select one or more qualified firms from whom a detailed proposal will be requested for any specific project. 

Those firms who wish to submit shall provide one (1), Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) with a cover letter for each discipline of work they wish to be considered.  The discipline of work needs to be stated in the cover letter.

Include SOQ point-of-contact information with e-mail address on each cover letter.  The format of the SOQ is left to the discretion of the submitter.  Submittals should not exceed (10) ten pages. 

Those firms that have statements currently on file will need to resubmit to be included in the remainder of the 2021 calendar year. All SOQ’s will be placed on file and will be used to select qualified consultants for each particular project, as the need arises.  Due to the ongoing nature of the projects throughout the year consultants not selected will not be notified.  Failure to follow the format outlined above may result in disqualification and/or removal from the Consultant Roster.

The City of Ferndale Public Works Department is now accepting applications and statements of qualifications for its Small Works, Vendor List and Professional Services Roster for the year 2021. Application forms can be downloaded from the City’s webpage here. Completed applications and statements of qualifications can be returned to the City of Ferndale, attn.: Public Works Department, P.O. Box 936, Ferndale, WA  98248 or emailed to public-works@cityofferndale.org.

Potential Quorum Notice – State Auditor’s Exit Conference November 6, 2020

In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30), notice is hereby given that a quorum of Ferndale City Councilmembers may be in attendance at the following event:

State Auditor’s Exit Conference, Friday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.

The purpose of this meeting is to allow state auditors to share their preliminary results of their audit of the City of Ferndale, for financial fiscal year 2019, and an accountability audit for fiscal years 2018 and 2019. This is an open public meeting as outlined by the Open Public Meetings Act, and members of the public are invited to attend and observe. To attend this virtual meeting, click here.

Public Hearing Notice – 2021 Preliminary Budget

Notice is hereby given that the City of Ferndale’s 2021 Preliminary Budget has been filed with the City Clerk. A copy thereof will be furnished to any taxpayer who requests it by contacting the City Clerk. Ferndale City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 16, 2020 to consider the final budget for 2021.

The hearing will be held at the City Hall Annex Building/Council Chambers, located at 5694 Second Avenue, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Any taxpayers may appear thereat and be heard for or against any part of the ordinance. Public comments may also be submitted via email to susanduncan@cityofferndale.org, or members of the public may phone in to 360-685-2385 when the public hearing is opened.
