Citywide Community Meeting Video

On May 31st, the City of Ferndale hosted a citywide community meeting. Over 100 members of the public attended along with volunteers from a number of local non-profits and community groups.

Upcoming Road Closure: At and around 5127 LaBounty Drive, between Smith Road and Slater Road

Drivers should plan to detour as LaBounty Drive will be CLOSED to through traffic near the work site at 5127 Labounty Drive between Smith Road and Slater Road. The closure is scheduled to last from Monday, June 20th, 2022, through Monday, September 26th, 2022. The closure is in effect 24/7 for the duration of the project.

Through traffic will be detoured via Pacific Highway. Local property access will be maintained throughout the closure. This work is for stormwater improvements associated with a private development project.

Thornton Street between Vista Dr. and Malloy Ave.

Drivers should expect delays as traffic is reduced to single lane alternating traffic on Thornton Street between Vista Dr. and Malloy Ave. on Friday, May 27th. The traffic revision is in effect from 7:00 AM to approximately 1:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours.

This closure is for utility work associated with the Thornton Street – Vista to Malloy Improvement Project.

Citywide Community Meeting Set for May 31st, 6:30PM

Get the inside scoop on what is happening in Ferndale directly from Mayor Greg Hansen, council members, city staff and community leaders at our in-person Citywide Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 31st  at 6:30pm in the Pioneer Pavilion (2007 Cherry St). The City will be holding an open Q & A session, as well as providing opportunities for the public to give feedback on a number of upcoming city
initiatives.

At this event, participants can

  • Learn about progress on the Thornton St. Overpass and Metalworks Skatepark
  • Offer feedback on the best use of remaining COVID relief funds
  • Explore the recent investments in City’s utility infrastructure and utility rate equity
  • Connect with community groups and non-profits
  • Meet your neighbors!

Drivers should expect delays as traffic is reduced to single lane traffic on LaBounty Drive, between the Les Schwab Tire Center and Smith Road beginning Wednesday, May 18th and lasting through Friday, May 20th, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours. This work is to complete shoulder improvements associated with a private development project.

Ferndale Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Vandalism Suspects

The Ferndale Police Department is asking the public’s help to identify three suspects in a series of vandalism cases. The suspects were caught on camera vandalizing a Ferndale business and are connected to a rash of graffiti in the greater Ferndale area.

The three suspects are described as male, and in their twenties. Two of them have darker hair with facial hair while one has lighter hair and skin. Anyone with information about these three suspects should contact Detective Steve Gamage at 360-483-5720 or sgamage@ferndalepd.org.

Vista Drive between Seamount Drive and Eastview Place AND Seamount Drive between Water Garden Street and Vista Drive

Drivers should expect delays as traffic is reduced to single lane traffic on Vista Drive between Seamount Drive and Eastview Place and also on Seamount Drive between Water Garden Street and Vista Drive beginning Tuesday, May 10th and lasting through Friday, May 20th. Work will take place at one work area at a time and the traffic revision will shift locations throughout the project. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Work will take place between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Roads will remain open during nonworking hours. This project is to complete utility work associated with a private development project.
